Wine dinner with Big Pinot Noir wines and “best steak” highlight of the sold out May 23rd spring cooking class.
Held every three or four months, this in-demand event was mostly filled up in the first few days after announcing the date.
It was a fun-filled evening with Chef Gorji the back-to-back Texas Steak Cook-Off Champion revealing the secrets to his award-winning steaks, which the Dallas Observer review called “one of the best in the metroplex.”
Wine Dinner Menu
After the spring cooking techniques class a three course wine dinner was enjoyed by the class participants. The courses were comprised of the dishes they just learned in the class. The first course was an appetizer of a grilled chilled avocado with yogurt and topped with Texas chili. A 2012 Hensel, Pinot Noir from the Russian River Valley accompanied it. The second course was a smoked salmon and arugula salad with red onion, diced boiled egg, diced tomatoes and lime vinaigrette. A 2013 Inman Family Pinot Noir from the Russian River Valley was served with it. The prime beef tenderloin and gnocchi gorgonzola sprinkled with pomegranate seeds was the third course served with 2012 Merriman Pinot Noir from Yamhill-Carlton, Oregon. In attendance was Shasha Beard, certified sommelier with Pioneer Wines and Michael Merriman of Merriman Vineyards gave insights into the wines and answered questions.

The wines and Chef Gorji’s cookbook Zing! were available for sale after the dinner. A cookbook purchase included a complementary bottle of Gorji Gourmet Dipping Oil & Marinade, a secret weapon of Gorji’s steak championships. 20% of the proceeds of sales of the cookbooks and retail purchase of the wines that evening are donated to Chef Gorji’s favorite charity Laidleys Ladies Foundation,a non-profit dedicated to helping under-funded families receive excellent breast cancer care.

We are very small with only 7 tables. We believe dining should be pleasurable and relaxed, so we do not rush you through your dinner to "turn the table" to seat more people, we do not have televisions and unfortunately cannot accommodate young children. We thank you for your understanding of these matters and hope you enjoy your time with us when dining in Dallas.
